Dr. Michael C. Threatt Selected as the Conference Keynote Speaker
COO of Dothan Housing will Speak at the Southern Conference on Homelessness and Housing
Dothan, Ala.- Dothan Housing (DH) is elated to announce that its COO, Dr. Michael C. Threatt, will be the keynote speaker for the Southern Conference on Homelessness and Housing (SCHH)! Dr. Threatt is an established 18-year affordable housing veteran whose innovative methodology has thrust DH into the spotlight as a national “think tank” through its Moving to Work (MTW) designation in the Landlord Incentives Cohort #4. The Price of Bureaucracy: Removing Section 8 Landlord Pain Points Through the Investment in Technology author, will deliver his address to conference attendees during the SCHH Awards Luncheon on October 27, 2023, at 12:55 p.m. in Sandestin, FL.
SCHH’s theme this year will be “Transforming Communities: Building Inclusive and Sustainable Housing Solutions” and is an opportunity for housing developers, homeless program managers, case managers, homeless advocates, state and local government representatives, providers of public and mental health services, and people with lived experience to come together to address the ongoing issues of poverty and the lack of safe, decent, and affordable housing in our region. Attendees will explore sustainable, inclusive communities and discuss how quality affordable housing can be sustainable in the South. Designed to tackle housing issues related to the most vulnerable populations, including but not limited to the LGBTQIA+ community, domestic violence survivors, persons living with HIV/AIDs, and those with disabilities, SCHH has included educational and hands-on training.

Team members, Tera Wells, DH Grant Writer, and Jordon Bonner, DH Landlord Liaison, will also deliver two presentations during the conference. Presentations will include an inside look at best practices to bridge the gap between affordable housing and health, along with an overview of the Wiregrass Landlord Tour. Both look forward to sharing their valuable insight and seeing the techniques and initiatives replicated across the region.
