Welcome to Dothan Housing.

Whether you are a resident, a prospective applicant, a community partner, or simply someone interested in the work we do, thank you for taking the time to get to know us. Dothan Housing is an organization built on people, and I hope that spirit is evident in everything you find here.

It is a privilege to step into the role of President/Chief Executive Officer. Having previously served as our Chief Financial Officer, I have had the opportunity to see this organization from the inside — the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our residents, and the trust of our neighbors and partners place in us. That trust is not something we take for granted. It is earned every day, and it will continue to guide me as I begin this new chapter of leadership.

I bring more than 19 years of experience in public housing and nonprofit leadership to this role. Over the course of my career, I have come to understand that this work is never just about numbers, policies, or programs — it is about people. It is about a mother finding a safe place to raise her children. It is about an elderly neighbor able to remain independent. It is about a family finally having room to breathe. Dothan Housing supports 1,781 Housing Choice Vouchers and countless individuals and families across our region, and each one of them matters deeply to me.

Our values — integrity, service, community, and opportunity — are not simply words on a wall. They are commitments. A commitment to do what is right, to treat every person with respect and compassion, to build genuine partnerships, and to continue creating pathways for people not just to get by, but to thrive.

Looking ahead, my hope is simple: every resident who walks through our doors, every caller to our office, and every family who calls one of our units home feels seen, supported, and truly welcome. Housing is far more than a roof overhead — it is the foundation upon which everything else in life is built. I am honored to help strengthen that foundation alongside a team as deeply committed to this community as I am.

Thank you for being part of Dothan Housing. You are our why.

Sincerely,

Bonita Schatz
