Position Summary:

As a Moving to Work (MTW) Expansion Agency under the Landlord Incentives Cohort #3, this position, reporting to the Director of Marketing & Fundraising, offers a wealth of
opportunities for creativity and innovation. The Marketing Specialist is pivotal in creating content for Dothan Housing (DH) and its instrumentalities, contributing significantly to developing all marketing strategies. The position involves producing high-quality content for websites, social media, marketing materials, videos, podcasts, fundraising, and other printed and digital platforms. The Marketing Specialist also assists the Director of Marketing & Fundraising in implementing and monitoring the Marketing, Rebranding, & Fundraising goals and KPIs of the Purpose 2025 and Purpose 2030 strategic plans.

1. Serve as the Producer and Host of the Beyond the Roof Podcast series, creating engaging and informative content for DH and its instrumentalities.
2. Responsible for creating flyers, videos, PowerPoint Presentations, and other digital engagement content.
3. Responsible for managing social media channels, utilizing Hootsuite software for scheduling, and analyzing content performance metrics such as views, engagement, and conversion rates to inform future content strategies.
4. Write, edit, and update content for brochures, marketing, fundraising, promotional materials, emails, websites, online newsletters, and more.
5. Use SEO best practices, such as keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building, to drive traffic to DHs and instrumentalities’ digital channels and improve their search engine optimization SEO presence.
6. Collaborate with other team members on marketing and design concepts and ideas to create content that aligns with the DHs’ and instrumentalities’ goals and brand identity.
7. Serve as a brand ambassador for the organization by promoting awareness of brand image internally and externally.
8. Serve as the in-house videographer to fulfill internal and external content needs for DH and its instrumentalities.
9. Develop and monitor an internal editorial calendar through Monday project management software to ensure consistent content production and timely delivery.
10. Research market trends and developments relevant to the campaign subject matter to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
11. Create engaging content for various social media platforms, monitor and respond to comments and messages, and keep the Director of Marketing & Fundraising informed of challenging issues that may arise.
12. Assist with developing strategic internal and external marketing plans, including marketing and fundraising materials, such as brochures, flyers, videos, and online content.
13. Coordinates the end-of-year report and the online version of the report for DH and its instrumentalities to convey the accomplishments’ stories.
14. Assist with developing and implementing a strategic communications program for social media management, website management, digital marketing, event announcements, community outreach, virtual groups, E-newsletters, and employee communications.
15. Lead the design, development, and execution of all DH and its instrumentalities’ audiovisual productions, advertising, photographic services, and graphic arts to ensure the effective dissemination of information supporting DH and its instrumentalities’ goals and objectives.
16. Help promote public awareness of DH and its instrumentalities’ achievements through posting periodic story generation and placement of DH and its instrumentalities’ client and partnership successes.
17. Assist with conveying information to advocacy groups, private companies, neighboring businesses, institutions, communities, and citizens to convey DH and its instrumentalities’ goals and objectives.
18. Attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members.
19. Work with residents on issues that affect the community, such as housing concerns, voucher holder support, and landlord issues, and solve interpersonal problems concerning housing residents, voucher holders, landlord issues, and other community stakeholders.
20. Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing public press conferences, including drafting press releases, preparing media kits, and coordinating with PR third-party agencies and other news media when necessary.
21. Undertakes and performs other work-related duties and special projects assigned by the Director of Marketing & Fundraising and executive leadership, including research, evaluation, analysis reporting, recommendation, problem resolution, and internal and external communications, to support strategic goals as required. These special projects may include market research, competitor analysis, or campaign planning.

Certificate, License:

• Valid Driver’s License. 

Required Education/ Experience:

  • Associate’s degree from a four-year college or university in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications, broadcasting, or related fields required.
  • Prefer bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in marketing, public relations,
  • journalism, communications, broadcasting, or related fields required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsibility in community relations, videography,
  • broadcasting, event planning, social media management, radio, and marketing.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to create and publish engaging content and analyze social media data to track performance and optimize strategies. 
  • Ability to stay up to date with the latest trends in social media.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with key internal stakeholders. 
  • Ability to support the website’s content management by providing updates and overseeing     tone, messaging, and imagery. 
  • Ability to monitor and report website analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing       strategies. 
  • Ability to optimize content for search engines and social media platforms to increase visibility and reach. 
  • Ability to maximize consumer engagement with marketing content. 
  • Ability to develop DH’s and instrumentalities’ marketing and branding presence throughout all social media channels. 
  • Ability to edit and proofread content for accuracy, grammar, and style. 
  • Knowledge of communication, media, and public relations strategies, procedures, and ethics.
  • Knowledge of branding concepts and management
  • Skills in preparing and presenting ideas and information in formal and informal settings. Excellent organizational, planning, structuring, and implementation skills.
  • Strong public relations acumen with an ability to engage in effective public speaking.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop creative solutions. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community. 
  • Ability to operate appropriate DH computer hardware, videography equipment, and other software packages.
