Position Summary:

As a Moving to Work (MTW) Expansion Agency under the Landlord Incentives Cohort #3, this position reports to the Asset Manager. The Leasing Clerk is the on-site person who carries out many functions, including leasing, marketing, and maintaining positive resident relations at multifamily residential apartments. The Leasing Clerk will work alongside the Asset Manager to lease units.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Provide excellent customer service.
  2. Understands and complies with the property’s program-specific guidelines.
  3. Schedules and accompany’ s potential renters on tours of available units.
  4. Following up on leads for potential renters.
  5. Prepares and executes leases in accordance with Housing Authority standards.
  6. Follows up with prospective residents to ensure an efficient and timely move-in.
  7. Handling the collection of rental payments and security deposits.
  8. Establishes rapport with applicants/tenants and provides personalized service.
  9. Communicates with maintenance department regarding unit turnover readiness.
  10. Performing landlord reference checks to see if prospective renters are suitable.
  11. Keeping residents informed of any changes to rental agreements or upcoming property issues.
  12. Cooperates with the Asset Manager on reporting requirements.
  13. Answer questions about the property to inquiring callers.
  14. Provides information regarding the amenities of the property.
  15. Communicates verbally and online to residents and potential applicants.
  16. Maintains a professional, courteous manner with vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
  17. Receives and distributes work orders among maintenance department.
  18. Assist Asset Manager with unit and property walks.
  19. Contribute to the general upkeep cleaning of office, lobby area, and common areas.
  20. Undertakes and performs other work-related duties and special projects assigned by the Asset Manager, Senior Asset Manager, CHO, COO, & CEO, including research, evaluation, analysis reporting, recommendation, problem resolution, and internal and external communications to support strategic goals as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent, with at least three (3) years of proven experience in leasing, hospitality, or administrative work. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, Ability to multitask during busy periods, attention to detail, and accuracy of record keeping. Must have a valid vehicle operator’s license and be insurable by the Authority’s fleet insurance carrier.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License and insurable by DH carrier
