Dothan Housing Obtains AmeriCorps Vista Internship Grant
DOTHAN HOUSING EXTENDS THE DOTHAN MOBILITY PROGRAM
AMERICORP VISTA PROGRAM IS HIRING NOW
DOTHAN, AL, OCTOBER 12, 2021 -: Dothan Housing has received a grant to extend its Dothan Mobility Program by partnering with AmeriCorps and their Vista program! The AmeriCorps Vista Internship positions are now hiring through December 1, 2021. This program has a history of making service to others an indispensable part of the American experience. Through the nation’s most trying times, AmeriCorps has continued to partner with organizations such as Dothan Housing to help those in need.
The AmeriCorps Vista internship will last one year to help build the capacity of Dothan Housing by increasing participation in ongoing community programs efforts for individuals and families and developing a sustainable volunteer recruitment program.
Dothan Housing offers a variety of resident engagement initiatives, events, and services, such as the ROSS, FSS, and the HCV Homeownership programs. Dothan Housing assists residents and participants in accomplishing their self-sufficiency goals such as homeownership, living independently, and obtaining living-wage employment. The Dothan Mobility Program ensures that individuals and families are stable and self-sufficient throughout the transition from public housing to voucher participation.
AmeriCorps Vista members will assist Dothan Housing in building its capacity with resident, community, and partnership outreach. This includes identifying the strengths and weaknesses in current strategies, policy development, the creation of surveys, and other identified instruments needed for outreach and engagement.
