Newly Elected to the Planning Commission
January 7, 2022— Dothan Housing’s own Resident Services Manager Aisha Freeman has been elected to the have been elected to serve as a Member on the Planning Commission Board for the City of Dothan for District 2. The term of service is four years from January 5, 2022-January 4, 2026.
The Planning Commission (PC) is a nine-member board which typically meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. in the City Commission Chambers. Please view the PC Meeting Calendar (PDF) for exact meeting dates. The cases heard and determined by the PC include:
o Rezoning – The Planning Commission makes a recommendation to the City Commission.
o Subdivisions
The Bylaws indicate that, ” The objective and purpose of the Planning Commission are to formulate, adopt, and assist in the implementation of the City’s Future Land Use Plan, Downtown Master Plan, and any other plans that may be adopted which shall guide the city’s growth and physical development. This commission, along with the assistance of the staff of the Planning Department, shall carry out the planning function for the city of Dothan and it’s planning jurisdiction.”
