The Housing Choice Voucher program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants can find their housing, including single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments. The participant is free to choose any housing that meets the program’s requirements and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects.

This year, Dothan Housing’s online application portal will be available on any device with access to the internet with the link as follows, https://www.waitlistcheck.com/AL3119. Paper applications will not be available, and the office will not receive fax requests. If reasonable accommodation is needed, please contact the Dothan Housing Authority at 334-794-6713. Citizens in need can request reasonable accommodations before Monday, April 4, 2022. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we cannot have applicants complete applications in person, so accommodation requests must be made by this deadline.
