Community Needs Assessment Survey for Dothan Housing Families
Dothan Housing Authority Partners with Troy University® to Address Resident Needs
Dothan, Ala. —Dothan Housing is pleased to partner with Troy University® School of Social Work & Health and Human Services in implementing a digital Community Needs Assessment Survey for residents of Dothan Housing communities from January 16, 2023- January 18, 2023. The agency hopes to gain valuable knowledge and input from its residents that can then be applied to formulate a comprehensive and strategic action plan.
The approximately 20-minute survey will allow full disclosure and more honest feedback rather than requesting information publicly. Assessments of this caliber also prevent the agency from relying solely on observation, but the data collected can now represent a larger community population. Information provided helps the PHA lobby or advocate for specific partnerships to address the needs of families utilizing affordable housing.
“As the CEO & President of Dothan Housing, my goal has always been to get behind the address and hear the voices of the families we serve,” says Crawford. “I am proud of our Department of Employee and Customer Experience as well as the Division of Resident Services for expediting this initiative, and the results, I believe, will be eye-opening and help our team and stakeholders pinpoint true needs.”
Dothan Housing and the educational institution, Troy University®, have partnered on community projects such as the Veterans and Seniors Community Health Fair in previous years. This project will be a collaborative effort between the agency’s Resident Services Department and Troy University’s® Dr. Amy Cox (MSW Program Director/Coordinator) and Dr. Onick Lewis (BSW Program Director/Coordinator). The team will be onsite at DH communities initiating the Community Needs Assessment Survey!
