Dothan Housing's Vice Chairman Jeff Williams Receives Commissioner of the Year Award
Dothan Housing Authority Names Commissioner of the Year
Dothan, Ala.— In a historic first, Dothan Housing (DH) is pleased to announce that the 2022 Commissioner of the Year is Jeff Williams. The commissioner of the year award is an extension of the DH employee recognition program and an opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of those who serve in the capacity of “Commissioner” for DH. Williams currently serves as Vice Chairman of the board and committed himself to the advancement of DH families.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. Additionally, he is also a graduate of Samford University’s Community Banking School. Prior to joining SmartBank®, Jeff served as Market President of BBVA USA in South Alabama. Jeff is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Dothan Williams and has 30 years of experience in the banking industry, including his current role as Regional President for SmartBank®.
Williams went above and beyond the requirements of the Vice Chairman position by teaching a series on Financial Literacy and participating as a commencement speaker at the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program graduation this year. “It’s a privilege to have a board that desires to be hands-on within our community, and Jeff is no exception. The opportunity to witness his excellence in service to DH families has been truly encouraging,” says Samuel P. Crawford, CEO & President of DH.
The tradition of servant leaders appointed by the City of Dothan’s mayor to serve on the Board of Commissioners for Dothan Housing has been long-standing. Since the appointment of the first board on February 24, 1940, men and women have been dedicated to helping the city progress by developing decent and sanitary housing in the most politically turbulent times. Their insight is valued and instrumental in maintaining a non-biased and caring approach to housing families in need. DH is elated to see this tradition continue in our current and future appointees.
