Dothan Housing June Board of Commissioners Meeting
LaMarion Durr Receives The Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship
Dothan, Ala. —Wow! It was a packed house at today’s Dothan Housing Board Meeting, and what a perfect meeting to attend! Congratulations to the first Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship Recipient, LaMarion Durr! LaMarion is a 2022-2023 Dothan High School graduate who will attend the University of Alabama in the fall! This incredibly talented young man is pursuing a degree in environmental engineering. He would like to return to his community post-degree to work on providing sustainable and green solutions to keep the Earth clean and “fresh for future generations.”
Presenting the scholarship alongside DH Fund Development Coordinator, Tera Wells, was Steve Morrison, advocate and husband of the late Susan Morrison. Morrison was full of joy and shared via social media the following statement.
“In the first step in the lasting legacy of the Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship, the Dothan Housing Authority announced its first recipient. The honoree, LaMarion Durr sporting a 3.4 GPA, is a graduate of Dothan High School. He plans to study environmental engineering. He is not only intelligent but very athletic, and will be attending the University of Alabama on scholarship, where he will throw the discus. Congratulations to this fine young man. I pray that he is just one in a line of future scholars that will honor Susan Morrison.”
Moments witnessed like today’s are the product of intentionality by team members toward the agency’s mission and vision. We remain enthused to see the legacy of a supporter and former Board Member live on through student achievement.
