Dothan Housing Authority Expands Services and Merges with SEACH
The Wiregrass’ One-Stop Shop for Affordable Housing Solutions
Dothan, Alabama — The Dothan Housing Authority (DHA) announced today the exciting news of absorbing the Southeast Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (SEACH) into its organization. This landmark partnership has the potential to establish a comprehensive Continuum of Care (CoC) for the Wiregrass Metropolitan Area, streamlining access to crucial affordable housing resources and amplifying efforts to eradicate homelessness.
SEACH, known for its tireless advocacy and innovative solutions, will continue its mission under the Dothan Housing umbrella. The non-profit will maintain its name but will relocate to DHA’s administrative office, effectively creating a one-stop shop for individuals and families seeking support.
“We are thrilled to welcome SEACH into the Dothan Housing family,” said Samuel P. Crawford, CEO of DH. “This partnership strengthens our commitment to serving the most vulnerable members of our community and brings us closer to achieving our shared goal of ending homelessness in the Wiregrass region.”
By joining forces, Dothan Housing and SEACH leverage their unique strengths and expertise. DHA offers a wide range of affordable housing options, including public housing, Section 8 vouchers, and homeownership programs. SEACH, on the other hand, brings experience in street outreach, emergency shelter, and supportive services. This combined force creates a seamless continuum of care, guiding individuals from crisis intervention to stable housing and self-sufficiency.
The partnership also aligns with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) CoC Program, which aims to provide funding and support for a community-wide approach to ending homelessness. By uniting under Dothan Housing’s leadership, SEACH gains access to essential resources and funding opportunities, maximizing its impact on the lives of those in need.
“This collaboration is a game-changer for our community,” said Dr. Michael C. Threatt COO of DH. “Together, we can offer a more comprehensive and coordinated response to homelessness, ensuring that no one falls through the cracks.”
The absorption of SEACH into Dothan Housing is a significant step forward in the fight against homelessness in the Wiregrass region. This partnership signifies a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for a future where everyone has access to safe and affordable housing.
