Dothan Housing Awards the First Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship to Local Graduate
Dothan, Ala.— Dothan Housing (DH), a public housing authority (PHA), is delighted to announce that LaMarion Durr has been awarded the Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship for 2023. Durr will receive the award of $2,500.00 on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM during the Dothan Housing Board of Commissioners Meeting. The recipient is a Dothan High School graduate and the first to receive the new scholarship award.
“I would like to thank everyone who assisted in the process for the Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship,” says Tera S. Wells, DH Fund Development Coordinator. “We are excited that LaMarion has accepted the scholarship award as our first recipient, and we look forward to his future success.”
The Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship is named after former Dothan Housing Board of Commissioner and local REALTOR®, the late Susan Morrison. Our Community, Inc.’s (OCI) Susan Morrison Memorial Scholarship aims to provide educational opportunities for residents and clients of the Dothan Housing (DH). OCI desires to see all people affiliated with the agency view “housing” as an opportunity to improve their lives and the lives of their families for generations to come. The affiliate nonprofit of DH recognizes that education is critical to effective long-term change and instrumental in dismantling intergenerational poverty.
Our agency congratulates LaMarion and the Durr family and is excited to see the local graduate reach his professional goals. The media is invited to witness Durr accept the scholarship during the meeting on Wednesday! We highly appreciate the ongoing support provided by Steve Morrison and the Morrison family.
